We’re capable of experiencing profoundly deep, divine love in many ways — sometimes through creative inspiration, through the mind, or through the earth and nature.
In numerology, Aces represent the number 1, which signifies new beginnings. The suit — Cups, Wands, Swords, or Pentacles — determines what element that new beginning will manifest through.
In the Qabalah, the Aces live at Kether, the highest point on the Tree of Life. The Divine. God. Goddess. The Universal Mind.
The Ace of Cups Tarot Meaning: Divine love, new love relationships, a fresh emotional flow, and good health.
First and foremost, the Ace of Cups represents a connection with your Divinity as an emotional

feeling: real love if romantic, unconditional love with family or friends, or even a renewed understanding of your own heart space. Openhearted is a wonderful definition of the Ace of Cups. We could also say wholehearted. And that’s good news for anything you’re involved in.
If you see the Ace of Cups (or any of the Aces), you know that God/Goddess, Masters, Guides, or Ancestors are supporting you. And let’s not forget the most effective force in your life: your own Soul, your personal Divine Self. We often see “yods” on the Aces — energy droplets cascading down to earth from the cosmos.
In Tarot and Astrology, yods represent a sign from the God-Head leading you on a cosmic path, or showing specific transits that are cosmically blessed for you.
We may not be the God-Head, but we do have a God-Self inside of us that, when loved, tended to, honored, and cultivated, awakens us to a much different reality than what we may be used to. It can feel fresh and flowing, alive and invigorating. It may appear as stress reducing, allowing you to feel more authentic and more self-loving. This is a sacred remembering that you belong here, there’s a reason for your existence and it’s good.
“The physical world is the birth canal of our higher self. The cosmic world is the birth canal of our lower self.”
Sometimes we see the Ace of Cups after facing pain. First, the pain is felt and empties out, and then the love flows in and fills your inner space like a soothing, healing balm. Cracked open, making way for the sacred. The God-shaped hole — a great book I read many years ago.
The pain is not a punishment; it’s a block being released. This is an effective process that deepens

us, carving us into a more sustainable well with fresh, clear, clean water. Some might call it becoming a clear channel. And you may be channeling the Divine when you see this card.
Believe in yourself; you’re more on point than you think.
In healing, when there’s movement, there’s well-being. When there’s stagnation, there’s blockage
and sluggishness. Feeling all of your feelings — allowing a purging of anger, resentment, sadness, and sorrow — helps restore your heart. Your feeling nature needs to flow; it’s your guidance, your compass.
For this reason, how you feel about something matters. That lets you know whether it’s right for you or not. Trusting our feelings is very similar to trusting our intuition, our deeper knowing. They’re connected.
What matters most to you? Follow that.
Poor treatment creates negative feelings, which summon difficult emotions from the depths of the self — from deeper inside the well. This helps because if there are toxic waters at the bottom of the well, they need to be drained and cleared. Then you can let go. This repairs the well that is your inner world on deeper and deeper levels.
But we can’t stay in situations where we aren’t treated well. We’re not meant to.
We can call it “clearing karma” — what rises up from the unconscious. We might view the

subconscious as a Well too, but one that is more accessible and pertains more to this lifetime.
Thinking about the Divine means, “I want to be friends.” Feeling the Divine means, “We are friends.” We deepen our cosmic connection.
Seeing the Ace of Cups is a welcome sign. It means healing, connection, new love, a move to a new home, or the birth or conception of a child. Whatever positive thing is coming up for you, it’s yours and it’s meant to be with you.
Relationships
In relationships, the Ace of Cups is a positive new beginning. This could mean meeting someone who fits you perfectly. These relationships can be life partnerships or connections that stand the test of time if they are soulmates. This is someone who’s willing to do the work with you: love, respect, compatibility, and just the right amount of chemistry. With friendships and family, there may also be reconciliations that are divinely appointed.
Reversed — RelationshipsYou may be feeling disappointed that something didn’t work out the way you wanted it to. That’s okay. Grieve the loss, give yourself time to heal, and understand that the timing may have been wrong or the compatibility simply wasn’t there. The Divine is with you. Keep going and keep growing. You’re feeling good is important so take your time. Soon there will be wind behind your sails again.
Career
In career, the Ace of Cups says there is a fresh new flow happening for you. It’s the beginning of the next chapter, and it’s blessed. There will be ups and downs, but you’ve got

experience under your belt. You’re more aware of what works for you, what you have to offer, and you’re ready to do the work. You may also find yourself with the right team and the right support, leading to a courageous, steady, and openhearted approach.
Reversed — Career the Ace of Cups in career suggests that you may be over-giving or working with the wrong group of people. There may be those around you who don’t value what you have to offer. You may also be in need of emotional support and healing that’s affecting your work or your perception of those around you. It may be time to engage your healing process more effectively. Decide how you’d like to feel, and then find ways to get there. You’re peace is important, you’re allowed to feel good about yourself and the work that you do.
Summary
The Ace of Cups represents a fresh flow of Divine support that can manifest in the most interesting
ways. A new love, a new sense of self, a job, a home, or a community may offer the nourishment you’ve been needing. These new opportunities also bring depth and connection in a lighthearted way, allowing you to feel blessed with just the right touch — and allowing the healing that’s needed to happen at just the right pace.
Much Love,
Rebecca
