Women's History Month - 4 of Wands

Happy Women’s History Month! I hope you’re all doing well.

I’ll be posting from this fantastic deck of Women’s Stories ‘Our Tarot by Sarah Shipman’. I’ll be selecting the cards randomly as I always do to align with the energies of the day, week, month etc.

Not all stories are so pretty but they are very powerful! I hope you can relate and find some inspiration. I know I do.

Much Love.

Our Tarot - Sarah Shipman

4 of Wands - Celebration of Accomplishments, Harmony within the Home, Balance through Chaos

How can you take up leadership in your own life allowing you to usher in these same qualities?

Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino - The First Female President and the 11th President of the Philippines. (1933 - 2009)

After suffering political exile and the assassination of her husband Benino Aquino, Jr. she

sought political success over the Authoritarian Regime of Ferdinand Marcos and Cory Aquino became the first female President of the Philippines with a peaceful transition of power. She ushered in a new era of peace, rights and freedom for the Filipino people.

How can you take up leadership in your own life allowing you to usher in these same qualities?

“In 1986 Marcos called for an election, although he was planning to use his power to rig the election in his favor. Although she was reluctant at first, Cory decided to run for President. The election was plagued by violence, fraud, and intimidation perpetrated by Marcos’s supporters, but when the dictator declared he had won the election, the Filipino people rallied around Cory Aquino, sending a clear message to Marcos that he was no longer welcome. He fled the country a couple of weeks later.”

“She immediately abolished Marcos’s constitution, which had allowed him to stay in office and enforce Martial Law and began working with her administration to ratify a new constitution that reflected a new era for Filipinos.”

Cory’s Administration was not without controversy or opposition. As she was the privileged daughter of wealthy and important families Cory’s land reform policies were met with some backlash from those who understandably felt that their new president did not have their best interests in mind.

What are some ways you can develop harmony and balance through times of change, chaos and disturbance?

There were also serious natural disasters during her last two years in office that caused widespread grief and devastation to the fledgling democracy. Through it all Cory listened to the requests and addressed the needs of her people, working tirelessly to correct the wrongs and injustices committed by her dictatorial predecessor. After her 6 year term in office, Cory announced she would step down and allow a new president to be peacefully and democratically elected.”

Corazon Aquino passed away August 1st, 2009. Her son Aquino Benigno III went on to become President of the Philippines June 30th 2010 - June 30th 2016.
